This new $30 keychain camera is coming for Kodak Charmera with a flip screen for selfies

Tiny digital cameras are all the rage, and Yashica is now offering a very cute toy photography experience of its own. The company’s new Funtastic Keychain Camera is exactly what the name suggests, a miniature digital camera small enough to clip onto your keys, bag, or lanyard. The popular Kodak Charmera is the obvious comparison, which brings a tiny blind-box keychain camera that became a viral collectible.

Now, Yashica’s version lands in the same novelty-camera lane, but adds one very useful trick, which is a 180-degree flip screen.

The flip screen is the fun part

The big advantage of the Funtastic over most other toy-style keychain cameras is undoubtedly its flip screen. Rather than guessing the frame for a selfie, you can flip the screen up and actually see what you are shooting. But like most tiny digicams, the specs are humble. Yashica lists a 1MP 1/4-inch CMOS sensor, F2.8 lens, 0.96-inch screen, 1440 x 1080 JPG output, and AVI video recording at 30fps. It also uses USB-C for charging and data transfer, has a built-in 200mAh battery, and supports microSD cards from 4GB to 64GB, though the card is not included.

In other words, do not buy this expecting crisp computational photography. Buy it because of the nostalgic shots it takes, which probably match photos from an old family album.

Cute, cheap, and very collectible

The standard Yashica Boy version costs HK$198, while the Snoopy and Hello Kitty versions are priced at HK$218. That puts the camera under $30, depending on conversion and shipping. It also makes it a direct alternative to the Kodak Charmera, which is currently in the $30-ish novelty-camera zone. The Funtastic ships from the week of June 22, 2026.
